Dear Winstons,
I am sorry to learn of your dad's death. Reading of him reminded me of our years at Main St. Methodist and a gentler time, years ago. My thoughts are with you.

York, Sharon and Robin: I am sad to read about your Dad's death. He was such a wonderful man, special friend and great employer. My friendship and employment started with your Dad when he hired me in 1976 to become his legal secretary. He was so kind and patient and an amazing teacher. We continued to keep in contact after he moved to Williamsburg by exchanging Christmas cards each year and I always tried to remember his birthday with a card on January 15. There will forever be a special place in my heart for "Joe Winston!"
Sincerely, Jettye Higgins

I had the pleasure of working with Mr. Winston at Clement & Wheatley for several years before his retirement, and he was such a wonderful person. All attorneys should aspire to be like him. He was a true gentleman, and I am thankful that I had a chance to know him. My deepest sympathies to the family as I know he will be greatly missed.

Grandad will truely be missed. He was such an amazing man, and my life has never been the same since meeting him. He was a small but major factor in my life being turned around and words can never express what he meant to me.

He was one of the kindest and gentlest men I have ever known. I am honored to have been Sharon's friend for 40+ years and Mr. Winston always treated me as part of the Winston family. He was a true Southern Gentleman. He is with God now and at rest. Love to all of you. Nancy

Joe Winston has always been an inspiraton to me. I had the good fortune of learning from him when I began my legal career. Joe was always the consummate professional, a refined gentleman, an intellectual, a patient teacher, and the epitome of what all lawyers should strive to become. I have many special memories of Joe, and I am a better person from knowing him. My deepest sympathies to his loving family,
