Josephine (Sergi) Federinko, 84, of Tarentum, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2025, after a lengthy battle with COPD. She recently moved into her daughter's home in Markle and finally was living in that country setting she had always wanted. She was born Jan. 22, 1941, in New Kensington, to the late Joseph and Lucy Magnone Sergi. Josephine was a 1959 graduate of Arnold High School and lived in the Allegheny-Kiski Valley her whole life. She worked her entire life to support her family. Josephine was a retired school bus driver for the Fox Chapel School District, retired bartender for the Oaks and Happers Tavern, Walmart cashier, and plant worker. She loved hard and gave too much at times. Josephine would tell someone about themselves in a heartbeat, as she was never good at biting her tongue. She didn't take any crap from anyone, as she displayed in her bartending days. But most of all, Josephine went extremely hard for her family, especially her great-grandchildren, and loved them with her whole being. Summer cookouts at her daughter's house were her favorite times of the year. Josephine just wanted to be around family, even on her worst days. She enjoyed playing cards on Sunday with her Dalton's Edge lady friends or sitting in the community room or outside under the pavilion hanging out with them. Josephine was hesitant to live in a senior living complex but ended up with new friends that stole her heart. She also enjoyed word search books, puzzles on her cell phone, time with family and friends, and being outside. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her ex-husband, Paul Terry Montgomery; sister, Patsy Williams; a brother at birth; three half-siblings, Cecilia Bernardo, Joseph "Sonny" Cavalier, and Margaret Morman; and granddaughter, Imari Pitts. Josephine is survived by her children, Tracy (Calvin) Montgomery Ott, of Markle, Scott Montgomery, of Tarentum, Heather Federinko, of New Kensington and Terry Montgomery, ex-husband, John Federinko, who catered to her needs and remained her friend; grandchildren, Ricardo Owen Jr., Michael Ott (who helped to care for her in her final weeks), Deion (Carlena Bonomi) Ott, Toriano Wilson, Kymoni Willison, Zanea Pitts, and Candace Montgomery; great-grandchildren, Kassidy, Kardi, Milah, Ivory, Mekhi, Damari, Zavier, Malai, Alo'a, Kaydence, and Sophia; siblings, Elizabeth "Puddy" Rusak, of Oakmont; Joanne Smith, of Lower Burrell; and Joseph (Janice) Sergi, of Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. As per Josephine's wishes, all services were private. A celebration of life, location and date to be announced.
