Josephine Giordano
Josephine (Rosato) Giordano 85, of Enfield devoted wife of the late Joseph Giordano for over 65 years entered into the embracing arms of her Lord on December 3rd, at St. Joseph's Residence, 8 months after beloved husband passed.
Josephine was born on April 22, 1940, in Bisacquino Province of Palermo Sicily, Italy the daughter of the late Gaspare and Rosa (Spallino) Rosato. Josephine came to America in 1954 with her mother and one sister. Josephine was so very proud of her Italian heritage. It was important for Josephine to share her Italian traditions with her children and friends. Josephine resident in Enfield for years and was a devotee of St. Martha Church. Josephine lived a long and satisfying life as a daughter, sister, sister-in-law, wife, mother, Nonna (grandmother), great-grandmother and friend. She dedicated her life to her family, her church and her friends.
Josephine is survived by her three children, Suzanne Markowski and her husband Paul of Ellington, Daniel Giordano of East Windsor, Linda Picard and her husband Robert of Enfield and former daughter-in-law Francine Giordano of Granby. Josephine is also survived by her nine grandchildren, Nikki Palmer and her husband Scott of Allison Park, Pennsylvania, Joseph A. Giordano and his wife Kate of Enfield, Robert Picard, Jr. and his wife Paula Jean of Brooksville, Florida, Justin Markowski and his husband Joshua Morin of Chicago, Illinois, Anthony Giordano and his wife Lauren of West Hartford, Stephen Picard and his girlfriend Lauren Barillari of Boston, Massachusetts, Danielle Markowski of Central, South Carolina, Madeline Giordano of East Windsor and Marissa Picard of Enfield and five great-grandchildren Robbie, Haley, Luca, Tommy and Jack.
Anyone who knew Josephine can recall her stories and remember her jubilant face as she described being proud of her grandchildren and their accomplishments. Josephine would light up every time one of them came to visit. In Josephine's eyes, her grandchildren could do no wrong. Josephine told her grandchildren regularly that "God was Good" and that she loved them – "Ti Amo".
Josephine is also survived by her brother, Santo Rosato and his partner Theresa Scafidi of Enfield; two sisters, Antonina Gannuscio of Cromwell, and Vincy Gandolfo and her husband Stefano of Enfield and sisters-in-law Armandina Santanello and her husband Mario of Westfield, MA, and Antoinetta Rosato of Enfield.
In addition to her husband Joseph and her parents, her brothers Rosario Rosato and Antonio Rosato, her sisters Anna Rosato, Anna Russo, her sisters-in-law Antonina Rosato and Margherita Rosato and her brothers-in-law Aniello Russo and Vincent Gannuscio predeceased Josephine.
So grateful for Marissa, Josephine's youngest granddaughter, for her devotion to her grandmother and for the countless hours she spent caring for her Nonna over the last several years.
A heart felt thank you to the Little Sisters of the Poor and the staff at St. Joseph's Residence for their care and compassion given to Josephine in her final hours.
Relatives and friends are welcome to join Josephine's family on Monday, December 8th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Browne Memorial Chapels, 43 Shaker Rd., Enfield, CT 06082
A funeral procession will gather on Tuesday, December 9th at 9 a.m. at the funeral home to St. Martha's Church 214 Brainard Road, Enfield, for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery.
