Josephine Hernandez, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 1, 2024, at the age of 87. She was born in Boerne, Texas on February 5th, 1937. Josie, as she was known to almost everyone, was deeply rooted in her community, having owned and operated Josie's Cut & Curl for over 40 years. She was the matriarch of a large, loving family. She was known for her empathy, open-mindedness, and profound wisdom. Even if "Momo" wasn't your abuela, she had a unique way of making everyone feel as though they were family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Apolonio and Marcelina Hernandez, her brothers John Hernandez and Matt Hernandez, Her sisters Linda Flores, Lupe Sotello, and Sarah Jimenez, and her great-grandson, Patton Dunning.
Josie is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Jesus Hernandez; Her sister Juanita Turner (spouse Don), her children Helen Pulsford (spouse George), Martin Garcia (spouse Anne Erickson), Ricky Garcia (spouse Diana), Jo Ann Fetters (spouse Larry), and Annette Dunning (spouse Mark); nineteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.
The service for Josie will be on Saturday, September 14th at Ebensberger-Fisher funeral home. The visitation will begin at 10:00am with the service to be conducted at 11:00am. The family invites friends and loved ones to join them in celebrating her remarkable life and the cherished memories she leaves behind.
