Josephine Hoffmann Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. on Mar. 30, 2026.
Josephine (née Fiorello) Hoffmann, 94, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of creativity, devotion, and enduring friendship.

Born on February 11, 1932, in Brooklyn, New York, Josephine was one of identical twins, sharing a lifelong bond with her sister Louise. Though separated early in life, they both grew up in the same Brooklyn neighborhood, where they shared childhood experiences, schooling, and common interests. She was raised alongside her brother Mike and sisters Rose and Louise, forming strong family ties that would shape her life. Josephine and her twin Louise became inseparable in both mischief and ambition, often delighting family and friends with their playful pranks. Their shared passion for art led them to attend the School of Industrial Arts in Manhattan, where they studied art and window design. Together, they began their professional journeys working at the lab at Rockefeller Center and later at Paramount Design.

Josephine married Lothar Hoffmann in 1956 and together they built a life centered on family. In the 1960s, they moved to New Jersey, where they raised their daughter, Liz. Josephine went on to have a fulfilling career as a graphics design manager with L.J. Gonzer in Red Bank, supporting Bell Laboratories in Holmdel. She took great pride in her work and cherished the opportunity to collaborate with so many talented colleagues throughout her career.

Known for her creative spirit and competitive nature, Josephine was also a deeply compassionate and loyal friend. She was always willing to lend a listening ear or a helping hand to anyone in need. She was a devoted member of St. Benedict's Parish, attending daily Mass and forming close friendships with a group affectionately known as "the nine o'clockers."

Josephine was a passionate fan of the New York Yankees and rarely missed a game, finding great enjoyment in cheering on her team.

Above all, she cherished time spent with her family. She is survived by her daughter Liz and her husband Rich; her grandson Mike; her great-grandson Cameron and his mother Nikki; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Josephine was dearly loved by all who knew her. Her warmth, generosity, and unwavering spirit will be remembered always, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.
