Josephine Malhenzie Hunt, age 95, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2025 in Arnot Ogden Medical Center, Elmira, NY. She was the wife of the late Arnold R. Hunt. Josephine (Jo; Josie) was born on September 12, 1929 in Throop, PA. She was the daughter of the late Ernest and Mary (Michalky) Malhenzie and foster daughter of the late Sidney and Hester Fish of Fishs Eddy, NY.
Josephine was a graduate of Hancock Central School, Hancock, NY and Baptist Bible Seminary, Johnson City, NY. She was employed part-time by The Leader while she was raising her family; later in life she was employed by Callahan Trailer Sales, Lindley, NY, and then retired from Rounds Insurance Agency, Addison, NY.
She was a member of and served in various roles at Lindley Community Church and Addison Baptist Church for many years and is currently a member of Church of the Redeemer, Addison NY.
After a recent cataract surgery, her eyesight was restored and her love for reading brought her joy, filling many hours, along with her steadfast and abiding love and faith in God.
Josephine is survived by her daughters: Barbara Oliver Sabo (Dave), Mary Lou Hunt Quintal (Mario), Susan Oliver; her sons: Richard Hunt, Edward Hunt, David Oliver; 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Josephine was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Darla Jane, and several brothers and sisters.
Family and friends are invited to attend a service at Church of the Redeemer Episcopal, 1 Wombaugh Square, Addison, NY on February 24, 2025 at 10:00am with Fr. Michael Hopkins and Fr. Thomas Gramley officiating.
Flint Funeral Home, Addison has been entrusted with her final arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Josephines name may be sent to: Church of the Redeemer, 1 Wombaugh Square, Addison, NY 14801.
