Josephine M. Lazzara, a beloved matriarch and cherished member of her family, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2025, at the age of 99. Born on September 29, 1925 to her parents Michael and Emily. Josephine lived a life that was marked by kindness, compassion, and an unwavering devotion to her family.
Josephine was a graduate of high school and embraced her role as a nurturing figure with grace and love. She was known for her caring nature and the warmth she brought into the lives of those around her. Her legacy is one of familial bonds and the cherished memories she cultivated over nearly a century of life.
She is survived by a loving family who will carry her memory forward: her daughters Judith and her husband David Bobby, and Janet and her husband Andreas Zigomalas ; her grandchildren Amanda and her husband Evan, Alexandra, and Matthew; as well as her great-grandchild Michael. Additionally, she is remembered by her brother Danny.
Josephine was preceded in death by her husband Leonard F. Lazzara (2007), her brothers, the late Jerry and his wife Anna, and the late Anthony and his wife Francis. They, along with Josephine, created a family foundation that emphasized love, support, and togetherness.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation on September 4, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Mangano Family Funeral Home, located at 1701 Deer Park Ave, Deer Park, NY 11729. A Mass will be held in her honor on September 5, 2025, at 11:15 AM at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Roman Catholic Church, situated at 1750 Deer Park Ave, Deer Park, NY 11729, concluding with a service at 12:15 PM.
Josephine M. Lazzara's spirit will continue to resonate within the hearts of her family, who will always remember her as a source of strength and love in their lives. She leaves behind a legacy that will be treasured for generations.
