Joshua Campbell Obituary
The management (Eddie and Jackie Nelson) and the support staff of Nelson's Funeral Home announce the passing of Mr. Joshua Tree Campbell of Kerrville, Tx.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, November 15, 2025, 1:00 p.m., at Nelson's Funeral Home chapel 270 N. Dogwood Ave. Ridgeway, South Carolina 29130.
Joshua Tree Campbell passed away on July 23, 2025, in Centerpoint, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and adventure that will never be forgotten. Born at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland on February 21, 1972, Josh lived with a gentle spirit, a curious mind, and a sincere desire to always do the right thing. His presence brought comfort, and his compassion left an imprint on everyone he met.
A proud graduate of the University of Colorado Boulder, Josh earned his bachelor's degree in civil engineering and approached both work and life with creativity and care. As a young adult, he developed a deep love for fishing, hiking and climbing. He climbed all of Colorado's famed 54 "14ers" and summited Aconcagua in South America, one of the Seven Summits, and an experience he often described as humbling and transformative.
Josh was a beloved son, brother, nephew, uncle and friend. His laughter could light up any room, and his warmth and humor uplifted those around him. He was the kind of person who looked for the good, even in difficult times, and did his best to offer that goodness to others.
Above all, Josh's most cherished role was being a father. His son, Clark Ellis Campbell, was the heart of his world. Whether exploring the outdoors or sharing quiet, everyday moments, Josh's love for Clark was deep, steady, and true.
Joshua leaves behind his mother, Betty Franklin Harrelson, and her husband Bruce Harrelson, a special stepfather; his father, Clinton Darrell Campbell; his sister, Lisa Anne Southworth, her husband, Edward T. Southworth and his nephews, Campbell T. Southworth and Thaddeus G. Southworth, two uncles and aunts, and eight cousins.
His family will forever hold his memory close and carry forward his legacy of kindness, courage, and joy. A memorial service will be held later this fall. Josh's family has identified several organization that honors his love for mountain climbing, one being Keep Climbing Foundation/Climbing to Change Lives (https://keepclimbing foundation.org).
Josh also leaves behind a heartbroken but grateful community of family and friends, forever shaped by his love, integrity, and spirit. His adventurous soul, thoughtful nature, and quiet strength will continue to live on in the stories we share, the peaks we climb, and the love we carry forward.
We miss him dearly and hold to the hope that he is at peace-perhaps somewhere high on a ridge, with the sun on his face and the sky wide open.
Rest easy, we love you
