Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jones Funeral Home - Jacksonville on Oct. 18, 2024.
SNEADS FERRY - Joshua Jacob Danner, born on July 7, 2009, in Silver Spring, MD, unexpectedly left this world far too soon on October 14, 2024. His passing has left a void that can never be filled. Joshua was the beloved first born son of Ashley and Billy O'Neal and a cherished brother to Lilith, Nicholas, Persephone, and Alice(deceased). He was also the adored grandson of Maryjeanne and John Danner III, Marie and Don Myrick as well as Jeanne Stacey and James O'Neal.
Joshua leaves behind a legacy filled with love from countless family members including Aunts Patricia Bilich, Gretchen Boone, Debbie Bennet, India Taylor, Symphony McKeever, Jessica Ames, Brittany O' Neal, Brandy O'Neal, Brianna O'Neal-Clairmont and Sarah Cottrell. Uncles Tomasz Bilich, Joseph Boone, Shane Bennet, Douglas Ames II, Andrew Ames, Briffen Ames, Benjamin Watts, and Ondre Clairmont. And all of their families.
He touched each one deeply leaving them bereft but also blessed having known such an extraordinary person.
From the moment he entered this world with his bright eyes and infectious smile, Joshua brought joy to everyone around him. His laughter could light up any room and his kind heart touched the lives of all who knew him. He had an insatiable appetite for life - literally when it came to food - but also for knowledge and understanding.
His hunger for knowledge knew no bounds; eager to prove himself time after time while embracing new challenges head-on. This unyielding drive made him stand out among peers as someone we knew would be great. Terrible but great.
Music flowed through Joshua's veins as he reveled in rap music and even created tracks of his own, some with his best friend Matthew. The beats resonated within him, reflecting his vibrant spirit and creative soul. Furthermore, lifting weights became one of his favorite pastimes as he strived to become stronger and more fit each day.
An avid gamer at heart, Joshua found solace in virtual worlds where he could explore new realms and embark on thrilling adventures. His laughter and other things echoed through every gaming session as he shared moments of joy with friends near and far.
One cannot speak about Joshua without mentioning his infectious humor - always ready to share a joke or funny story that would bring smiles to everyone around him. He possessed an innate ability to uplift others' spirits during times of need with just a simple quip or lighthearted jest.
Joshua was on a journey to get to know God but if there was one thing that rivaled Joshua's love for God, it was football. Oh boy! Did he love football! Barely missed a practice, loved working out, talked about it nonstop – football held a special place in his heart.
Joshua was an amazing big brother to Lily, Nick and Percy. Now, we, the family, take comfort knowing he is showing Alice what a big brother should be.
The Viewing will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville Chapel. The Memorial service will follow at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at Dixon High School, Sneads Ferry, NC.
In honor of Joshua's memory let us strive every day moving forward to not only remember how much joy he brought into our lives, but also carry forth some part of what made Josh so special - whether it be kindness towards others or taking time each day to fully enjoy and appreciate a meal because these are things Josh thought were truly worth living for!
May you rest peacefully now sweet angel until we meet again someday...
