Joshua Middleton Obituary
January 13, 1985 - June 12, 2025
Joshua Lee Middleton, 40, of Lynchburg, Va., left this world to continue his Journey on June 12, 2025. He was born on January 13, 1985. Surviving Josh are his mother and father, Sheila Pacot (Nick) and Kevin Middleton (Lindsay); his younger brother, Jay Middleton (Kira); his nephew, Taylor Weschke; and niece, Aubrie Middleton with whom he shared a very special bond. His grandmother, Beverly Middleton; aunts, uncles, and cousins that he loved and adored. He also leaves behind his feisty, much loved and feared miniature dachshund, Filburt. Josh was predeceased by his grandfather Glenn Middleton; and grandmother and grandfather, Granny and Beebop with whom he was very close and who surely are celebrating to be with him again.
Josh graduated with honors from Jefferson Forest High School and attended Governors School. He received his Bachelor of Art's from University of Virginia majoring in Cognitive Science and Philosophy. Josh was very creative and had many talents in art, writing and culinary skills. He took great joy in sharing his gifts with his loved ones and friends.
Josh had a great sense of humor and wit. He was very intelligent and loved his friends and family fiercely. He had a tender and loving soul and fought a long courageous battle with addiction. It is an extremely hard battle for everyone involved. In his honor, please be supportive and understanding to those who are suffering with addiction and the effects it puts on their loved ones and friends.

Josh brought a special light to this world. He was incredibly kind, talented, intelligent, and so much fun. To know he was out in the world, just being himself made the world made you feel glad when you thought of him. I was fortunate to know Josh and call him my friend. He will be dearly missed.

I met Josh when he entered my 5th grade classroom years ago. He was an amazing young friend to all and an incredible student! Prayers lifted for Sheila, Kevin , Jay and all who feel Josh's great absence. The news of this loss is heartbreaking.

I remember Josh from our high school days. He was an absolute joy to be around. I have never forgotten his kindness and overall sweet nature. A really great guy. Very sorry to hear of his passing.

Josh was love and laughter and light.
I´ll miss him endlessly.
I´m so happy I got to meet his family and send comfort to them in navigating this time.
I don´t want to say goodbye and it´s not fair we have to, but Josh finally is at peace and I can think of nothing more fair. I´m better and funnier and more exasperated because I knew him and I´d do every second a thousand times again.
