Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, & Receptions - Beavercreek ChapelJoshua Michael "Josh" Neal, age 40, of Kettering, passed away October 7, 2025. Josh was born in Springfield, Ohio on May 19, 1985 to Shawn Barnett and Joleta Parker.
Josh was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Joyce Beavers; paternal grandmother, Nancy Fowler; maternal grandfather, Elmer Neal; as well as his paternal grandfather, Roscoe Fowler.
He is survived by mother, Joleta Marie Parker; step-father, Frederick Parker; father, Shawn Barnett; children, Austin Michael Neal, Alexander Maxwell Neal and Lauren Nicole Neal; sister, Jasmine Parker; aunt and uncle, Marlisse and Jeff Hardamon; as well as many cousins, extended family members and friends.
Josh played football and track while attending Springfield North High, Class of 2005. He studied Taekwondo in his formative years. Josh was in the Army Reserves for 4 years, achieving the rank of Specialist.
In his free time, he enjoyed working on his car, technology, computers and electronics, music, football, drawing and playing pranks on those he loved.
Josh was strong, smart, supportive, kind and would help anyone in need. He had an infectious smile.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Josh's memory to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (Click NAMI-mc.org/get-involved/donate/">HERE to donate).
Visitation will be held from 10:00am-11:00am on Sunday, October 19, 2025 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd, Beavercreek), where funeral services will begin at 11:00am.
