Gabaldon MortuaryJoshua Paul Torres, 17, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away on July 31, 2025. After being hospitalized from a violent incident, he spent two weeks fighting with unimaginable strength and courage. In those quiet, uncertain days, Joshua turned 17 years old. Surrounded by love, still holding on with everything he had his body could not hold on, his spirit never gave up.
Born on July 29, 2008, in Albuquerque to mother Crystal Herrera and father Robert Ortiz. Joshua was a loving son, a loyal brother, and a light in the lives of everyone he touched.
He is survived by his parents, Crystal and Robert; his siblings Santos, Andres and girlfriend Tabor, Estevan; and his youngest brother, Christopher, whom Joshua helped raise and cared for with deep devotion. He also leaves behind his girlfriend, grandmas, aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends who were forever changed by his light. And we can’t forget his dog Blu, they shared such a fun loving bond. She smiled big every time she heard Josh shout, “where's my Esa Bluuuu".
Joshua was preceded in death by his grandfather, Paul Lucero; his grandmother, Maria I. Torres; grandfather, Robert Torres; and his grandmother, Rebecca Ortiz. He was also preceded by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved him deeply, and now welcome him home with open arms.
Josh was a bright, kind-hearted young man with an old soul. Entering his senior year of high school. He had just begun working over the summer and discovering the endless possibilities of the life ahead of him. He was known for his loyalty, his sense of humor, and his signature smile, the kind that could brighten even the darkest day. He was fearless, always loving and protecting the people around him.
We will never forget his goofy personality, bold sense of style, his curly hair, lingering cologne, and most importantly the deep love Joshua had for his family and friends. From his first steps to his final days, Joshua gave us memories that will never fade. His love, his laugh, and his unforgettable smile will live in our hearts forever.
