Josie Kate Lehman, age 19, of Versailles, passed away Friday, November 7, 2025. She was born July 26, 2006, daughter of Brian and Secely (Jones) Lehman and sister to Connor.
Josie was a 2024 graduate of Morgan County R-II High School. After graduating, Josie went on to continue her education studying social work at Lincoln University where she was pursuing a degree in social work.
She grew up as an animal lover from bottle feeding a cat, goat or baby calf, to showing every kind of livestock and pet sitting for others over the weekend.
Josie was a light unlike any other - radiant, bold, honest and full of love. She spoke her mind with courage, yet carried a heart with gentleness that could calm a storm. She made people laugh, even when they didn't want to, lifted others when they couldn't lift themselves and stood for what she believed in with quiet strength.
She will be remembered as spunky, smart and full of heart – someone who didn't seek attention but earned admiration through quiet acts of love and service. She was mature beyond her years, had a servant's heart and a natural drive to help others. Her faith, compassion and empathy guided her as she worked toward her degree in social work, already making a difference in nursing homes and her local community. Josie loved working at Good Shepherd Care Center and Beacon Specialized Living. She had a bright spirit – bold and unfiltered, yet deeply kind.
Her love for animals, her dedication to caring for people in need and her deep connection to her church and farm community made her truly one of a kind.
In essence, Josie embodied Matthew 5:16, living a shining example of kindness, strength and selflessness that will never fade.
She is survived by her parents, Brian and Secely Lehman; her brother, Connor Lehman; grandparents, Bruce and Kathy Jones and Bill and Cheryl Beavers; uncles and aunts, Brent and Becky Lehman, Dustin and Dina Dunklee, Scott and Lorna Baldwin, Jed and Meg Clark and Joel and Abbey Clark and numerous cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Quintin and Eunice Lehman and cousins, Luke Joseph Lehman and Hope Ray Dunklee.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 13th, at the Bethel Fellowship Church. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 12th, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. A private family graveside service and interment will be held in the Bethel Cemetery at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
