JOSIP MEDICA age 85, beloved husband of Maria Medica (nee Hrvatin); loving father of Dennis (wife Susan) and Elvis (wife Eda); devoted grandfather of Gianna and Marina; cherished son of the late Josip and Jelena (nee Sverko); dearest brother of the late Ivan, the late Milan, the late Maria Djurdjevic (husband Pavlo), Miro, Nadalina Markon (her late husband Marcelo), Mila Zupancic (her late husband Loze), Anna, and Vera Serjak (husband Ivan); dear uncle and great-uncle of many.
Josip was born March 18, 1939, in Podgace, Croatia. He emigrated from Italy to Cleveland, Ohio with his wife and young son. He spent his working years as a truck driver. Josip attended St. Barnabas Catholic Church and was a member of the Cleveland Istra Club.
Josip had a zest for life that knew no bounds. He found immense joy in working on cars, making wine, and tending to his garden. Yet, his greatest joy came from the cherished moments spent in the company of his wife, sons, grandchildren, and dear friends playing the occasional game of briscola (card game) or bocce ball, where laughter echoed and memories were woven into the fabric of their lives.
Dedicated to those he loved, Josip will be remembered as being a strong, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Mass of Christian Burial Friday, November 15, 2024 at St. Noel Catholic Church, 35200 Chardon Road, Willoughby Hills, OH at 11AM. Burial following at All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Josip at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) THURSDAY 3-7PM.
