Joy E. Boring, 68, of Carmi passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2025, at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado. She was born in Eldorado, IL on June 5, 1957 the daughter of James Marshall and Barbara Lou (Hudgins) Grisham. Joy married Tom Boring on December 17, 2005 and they shared almost 20 years of marriage together. She was a member of the Omaha General Baptist Church. Joy’s favorite hobbies were camping with her family and selling Tupperware at vendor fairs. She also taught elementary special education in Carmi-White County School District for 34 and a half years until she retired from Jefferson School in 2014.
Joy is survived by her husband, Tom Boring of Carmi; two sons, Ryan Murphy of Evansville, IN and Alan Murphy of Evansville, IN; stepdaughter, Julie Boring of Ohio; sister, Jill (Wesley) Ellet of Creal Springs, IL; two nephews, Matthew and James Ellet; and five great nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Marshall and Barbara Lou (Hudgins) Grisham.
Funeral services for Joy E. Boring, 68, of Carmi will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 6, 2025 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Burial will follow at Douglass Cemetery in Eldorado, IL. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi.
