Joy Choate Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Heartland Funeral & Cremation Service of Comanche on May 13, 2024.
Joy Grant Choate, 63, of Arlington, went to be with our Heavenly Father on Friday, May 10, 2024 at the Comanche County Medical Center.
Joy was born on January 6, 1961 in Odessa, TX to Carl and Martha (Pruitt) Grant. Joy was of Choctaw Indian descent. She was raised in Imperial, TX and attended Buena Vista High School. She played several sports including volleyball where the team won the State Championship Title in 1977. She graduated from Angelo State University, majoring in Business and Finance.
Joy met Rick Choate in 1976 and they became high school sweethearts. Joy and Rick dated through college and married on September 1, 1990 in San Angelo, Tx.
Joy had a long and successful career, working for companies such as Johnson & Johnson Ethicon, J&J Medical, Healthpoint, Novartis, and Alcon. She held positions in finance, project management and product ownership. A highlight was the global implementation of IT software to track product marketing, promotions and sales. Much of her work required traveling to many countries including Malaysia, Switzerland, China, South America and several countries in western Europe.
She always loved spending time with family and friends. Joy was extremely thoughtful of others and always took the time to sit down and listen or console friends or co-workers needing help or advice.
With many life experiences, Joy was always a country girl at heart, planning her retirement in Beattie, TX, raising Red Angus cattle, goats and a shit-load of cats.
Joy is survived by her husband, Rick; 2 sisters, DeLane Cagle and Pam McLaren (Steve); sister-in-law, Lana Pierce (David); numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

I remember helping to haul hay
With Joy Mike Delane and Marty.
Joy could buck the hay all the way up to the guys on the trailer.
She was definitley a tomboy back then.
We also enjoyed watching her grow up into a beautiful, kind,
caring woman.
I also remember She drew and painted Frogs all over her bedroom, it was beautiful, just like her.
Sending our love
Mike and Charleen York
