Joy May Estrella

Joy May Estrella, age 82, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2026.

Joy was born on December 25, 1943, in Dunham, KY, to George Washington West and Margaret Louise West. She spent her formative years in Tennessee and Florida, where she developed the strong family values and warm spirit that would define her life.

Joy devoted more than four decades to the education and nurturing of young children through her in-home daycare. She played an integral role in the early development of countless children, lovingly guiding them from infancy through preschool and preparing them for their elementary years. Her patience, dedication, and genuine love for children left a lasting impact on families and the community she served.

Family and friends were the center of Joy's world. She cherished time spent with loved ones, and her children and grandchildren were truly everything to her. Joy's home and heart were always open, filled with laughter, care, and unwavering support.

Throughout her adulthood, Joy embraced life with enthusiasm. She enjoyed line dancing, singing karaoke with friends, and traveling on cruises, where she delighted in experiencing new places and making memories along the way.

Joy will be remembered as a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend-someone whose kindness, generosity, and spirit touched everyone who knew her.

Joy is survived by her sons, Tony (Nancy) Estrella of Chantilly, VA, Ron (Julie) Estrella of Haymarket, VA, and Travis (Erika) Estrella of Lakeridge, VA; her six cherished grandchildren Izabela, Michael, Gabby, Carly, Kaitlyn, and Melanie; and her siblings Burt West Sr., Helen Sue Mapes (West), Dianna Peschke (West), and Jack West.

Visitation from 12:00pm-1:00pm, Service at 1:00pm will be held on February 28, 2026, at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home, 9902 Braddock Road, Fairfax VA 22032.
