Joy Risen Obituary
She attended Many High School, being the first graduating class of 1959. At the age of 36, she decided she wanted to help others, so she attended nursing school earning her LVN/PN license on June 3, 1977. The majority of her career was spent as a Certified Chemotherapy Nurse, helping patients and their loved ones through the difficult battle with cancer.
Joy is survived by sons Rick and wife Shari Smith, Allen and wife Linda Young, daughter April and husband Dennis Hill; grandchildren Adam Welch, Michael Young, Andrew Williams, Jacklyn Hill, and James Hill; great grandchildren Caroline Hill, Hailey Horner, and Chloe Young; sisters Jo Ann Saltzman (Lawrence) and Opal Cleveland (Lawrence) and many extended family and friends.
Joy was preceded in death by her mother Hazel Lawrence, father Bill Lawrence, brother Billie Lawrence, sisters O'Del Edwards (Lawrence) and Nancy Beeler (Lawrence).
Memorial services will be held on Sunday, December 21, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville.
