Funeral Services: Will be held on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. at the Greenfield United Methodist Church with burial in the Greenfield Cemetery. Pastor Melinda Stonebraker will officiate the service. The Lamb Funeral Home in Greenfield is in charge of the professional arrangements. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.lambfuneralhomes.com.
Family Visitation: The family will greet friends on Saturday, December 20, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Lamb Funeral Home in Greenfield.
Memorials: Memorials may be made to the Joy Standley Memorial Fund to be established by the family at a later date.
Joy Elizabeth Standley was born on June 29, 1941, the daughter of Paul E. and Carrie Amelia (Bowen) Brockman in Greenfield, Iowa. She passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 84.
Joy grew up in Greenfield and graduated from Greenfield High School. On May 27, 1959, she was united in marriage to Larry Standley in Orient, Iowa. To this union five children were born: Ted and Terry, Patti, Monte and Randy. They lived in Greenfield, Des Moines and Earlham. When her parents retired, they purchased the farm east of Greenfield. She worked for Earlham and Greenfield school districts as cafeteria manager for many years.
Joy was a member of the Greenfield United Methodist Church and was an Avon lady for over 30 years. She enjoyed sewing, making things, gardening and reading, and her family was her most important interest. She was very proud of her family. She loved her WOW group meetings on Tuesdays and getting with her friends on Wednesday for coffee time. She loved working in the schools being with all the students and getting to know each of them.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry Standley; son, Terry Standley; three grandchildren, Kristine, Lance and Ryan; and sister, Marcella Wilson.
She is survived by her children, Ted Standley and wife Brenda of Greenfield, Patti Wieronski and husband David of Choctaw, Oklahoma, Monte Standley and wife Cathy of Greenfield and Randy Standley of Greenfield; ten grandchildren, Jaime Beekmann (Joe), Denise Pina, Tyler Standley (McKenzie), Nick Standley (Megan), Jonna Pilapil (Patrick), Brit Pettit (Walter), Jake Standley, Alex Standley, Austin Standley, Abbie Kirchhoff (Cody); twenty-one great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
