Joy Kaye Stull, 79, of Dover, formerly of Dennison, entered into her Father's eternal kingdom at 9:29 AM on May 22, 2023, at Park Village in Dover after a period of declining health that included a broken heart. Born December 29, 1943, at Twin City Hospital in Dennison, she was the last surviving child of the late Thomas Joseph Bigler and Helen Marie Bloom Bigler Cook. Joy was preceded in death by her brothers, Thomas J. Bigler and Richard Lee Bigler; former sister-in-law Carol J. Bigler; and brothers- and sisters-in-law, Paul (Betty) Stull II, Richard (Elaine) Stull, Ruth Klaserner, Shirley (Donald "Red") Garrett, Diane Morrison, and Peg (Delmar) Clark.
On March 24, 1961, Joy married the love of her life and her soulmate, Charles Robert "Bob" Stull who preceded her in death on November 6, 2021 after 61 years of marriage. Joy is survived by daughters, Tina Marie (Keith) Cope and Kimberly Kaye (Jamie) Urban. Joy is also survived by her grandchildren, Todd (Mary Lee) James, Troy James, Jessica (Cory) Rawson, James (Lorie) Urban II, Marissa (Josh) Davis, Brett (Kirstyn) Stull, Alec (Tori) Stull and Madison (Joe) Barker, and 13 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, siblings, and brothers- and sisters-in law, she was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Robert Stull, and infant son, Charles Robert Stull Jr.
Joy was a lifelong area resident with the exception of the years she spent in Norfolk, Virginia, while Bob was serving his country in the U.S. Navy in the early 60s. Joy and Bob also enjoyed living in Sugar Hill, Georgia, from 2011-2013, but missed the Tuscarawas Valley and returned home.
Joy, aka MeeMaw, was quite the adventurer before loss broke her heart. On her first visit to Colorado, she mastered the infamous Manitou Incline at the age of 55, quite the feat! She learned to roller blade in Colorado and practiced at Trenton Avenue school until she fell and required surgery to reattach the ligament in her hand. She undertook ice skating and cross-country skiing in her 50s as well. She was happiest when her family was together and enjoyed attending their sporting activities in Tuscarawas County. Joy and Bob were MYF leaders at Grace United Methodist church in the late 70's, and they cherished watching those teens become adults.
Joy worked a variety of jobs, including at Hick's Furniture, Flex Manufacturing, Aamco Transmissions warehouse, and the dietary and housekeeping units at Twin City Hospital.
A memorial service, led by Rev. Tom Klaserner, will be held 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Joy and Bob will be interred in Uhrichsville's Union Cemetery with a graveside service following the memorial. A luncheon will follow the graveside service. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 21, 2023 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice.
