Joyce L. Althoff

Joyce Louise Althoff (Wishard), 92, of York, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 1, 1932, in Smithsburg, Maryland, the eldest of 10 children to the late Russell James and Mildred Rose (Kendall) Wishard.
Joyce was predeceased by her loving husband of 34 years, James Arthur Althoff. Together, they raised four children. She is survived by her four children: David Althoff and wife Deborah, Donald Althoff, Diane Miller and husband Scott, and Daniel Althoff and wife Tammy.
Joyce was also a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren and a great-grandmother to 11 great-grandchildren. Her family was her greatest joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Joyce is also survived by her longtime companion, Tedd Keefer, who brought comfort, companionship and love into her life during their many years together.
As the oldest of her siblings, Joyce was a loving and guiding presence to her five sisters and four brothers. She was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters, whose memories she held dear.
Joyce was known for her loving nature, quick wit, and infectious sense of humor. She had a special ability to make everyone around her feel welcome and valued.
An avid cook, Joyce's kitchen was always filled with the comforting aromas of meals prepared with love for her family. She also had a deep passion for gardening, tending to her beautiful flower gardens and sharing the fruits of her labor with those she loved. Family gatherings, particularly at Christmas and during summer celebrations, were filled with joy and laughter.
Joyce also held a special place in her heart for the Margaret E. Moul Home, where her son, Donald resides. The care and compassion shown by the staff at the home touched Joyce deeply, and she was forever grateful for their kindness.
A visitation will be held at John W. Keffer Funeral Home, 2114 W. Market St., York, PA, on Tuesday, December 10th from 10-11am with a service to follow. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Margaret E. Moul Home.
Joyce's legacy of love, kindness, and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her devotion to family, her sense of humor, and her nurturing spirit will never be forgotten.
