Joyce Bouthner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Evans Funeral Chapel & Cremation Services - Parkville on Mar. 2, 2026.
Joyce Louise Bouthner was born to Edna K. and Wilbert J. Rejzek on December 18, 1954 at St. Joseph's hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. One of six children, she grew up in Highlandtown and graduated from Patterson High School in 1972. She was an honor student and worked at Provident Savings Bank while still in school. After graduation, she went to work for the Internal Revenue Service and married Paul Bouthner the same year. They had been sweethearts since their early teens.

Joyce and Paul were the proud parents of Kenn Ryan, and Joyce wanted nothing more than to be a great mom to Kenn and loving wife to Paul. She left the IRS and dedicated all her time to doing just that. She loved her small world and always lived each day on her terms. She did not like large social gatherings and avoided them whenever possible. She did not care what others thought of her, she was steadfast in her decisions and never hypocritical. Joyce had health problems since a young girl, but she still helped others whenever she could. She took care of her mother after a 5 by-pass open heart surgery and saw to her complete recovery. After her own surgery to replace defective heart valves, Paul took care of Joyce and the household, including the cooking. Joyce enjoyed almost a decade of renewed energy and stamina that she had been missing. She worked in her garden, started exercising, even went shopping and best of all, she played with her little grandson, Cooper-whom she loved dearly. He was the true apple of her eye. Joyce helped out her brothers and sisters, not always in a physical way, but sometimes in a spiritual or knowledgeable manner. She had high intelligence and a sense of mysticism.

Joyce is survived by her husband Paul R. Bouthner Jr. and her son Kenn, his wife, Cassie and their son Cooper. She leaves behind two brothers and three sisters: James G. Rejzek (Helen) of San Antonio, Texas; Janet M. Springer of Orlando, Florida; Joseph W. Rejzek of Essex, Maryland; Jean H. Mills (Nelson) of Littlestown, Pennsylvania; and Judy E. Hafele (Stuart) of Hampstead, Maryland. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and cousins.

Joyce's last wishes have been lovingly handled by her husband Paul. She was cremated and her request to "just bring me back home" has been realized. She is at last in peace; no pain, no worries and no work, only eternal rest in heaven.
