Joyce R. Brown, 92, of Bellefonte, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 31, 2025, at Centre Care. Born on December 20, 1932, in Ferguson Township, she was the daughter of the late Luther H. and Florence (Gates) Rider. On February 5, 1960, she married the love of her life, Alfred "Budd" Brown, who preceded her in death on November 30, 2004.
Joyce was a proud graduate of 1950 from State College High School. A devoted homemaker, she dedicated her life to caring for her family and creating a warm, welcoming home. She was a faithful member of Ross United Methodist Church in Marengo, PA.
Joyce found great joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved tending to her yard and flower gardens, often spending hours surrounded by the beauty she created. She enjoyed word search puzzles and had a special fondness for watching birds-especially cardinals, which always brought a smile to her face. Her gentle spirit and kind heart will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Joyce is survived by her daughter, Shawnee Brouse and her husband, David, of Wingate; one granddaughter, Whitney Summey and her husband, Eric, of Wingate; and two cherished great-granddaughters, Ella Renee and Ensley Dawn, both of Wingate. She is also survived by two brothers, David Rider of Bellwood and Larry Rider of Marengo.
In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Joyce was preceded in death by her son, Barry Brown; grandson, Jeremiah Diaz; two sisters, Betty Hammond and Dorothy Miller; and three brothers, Howard, Lynn, and John Rider.
Joyce's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Centre Care for the wonderful and loving care she received.
Burial will be private. Joyce will be laid to rest beside her husband at Union Cemetery in Bellefonte.
Memorial contributions may be made in Joyce's honor to Pets Come First, 2451 General Potter Highway, Centre Hall, PA 16828.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, Inc., in Milesburg, PA. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.daughenbaughfuneralhome.com
