Ms. Joyce Ann (Davis) Brown was born June 17, 1950, at Whitaker Memorial Hospital in Newport News, VA to James Davis and Virgie (Rainey) Hux. Joyce traveled the world at an early age with her father during his Military tours.

She attended schools in Frankfurt, Germany and graduated from Bel Air High School in El, Paso TX. Joyce retired from Riverside Hospital as a nurse and Newport News Public Schools Transportation as a Bus Driver; her latest bus #234.

Joyce was a member of Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Church MASS Choir under Rev. M. I. Jefferson. She later became a member of The Golden Stars of Hampton, VA; Joyce had been with singing groups since her teenage years. She loved to and could really sing. She was a past member of the Elks Lodge of Pandora in Newport News, VA, a past member of the Les Femmes, and the American Legion Post #67.

Joyce was a present member of the VA State Grand Chapter; Order of Eastern Star where she was a Past Grand Associate Matron of VA State Grand Chapter, OES under the affiliation of the Most Worshipful Consolidated Hiram Grand Lodge of Newport News, VA.

She was a member of Faith Chapter #2, Past Worthy Matron. She participated in several departments of the Order; Royal Exalted Order of Amaranth; Esther Ct #2, Past Royal Matron, a member of Heroines of Jericho; Fidelity Ct #1, Ladies of Knights; Deborah Council #1, Past Worthy Chief Counselor; Daughter of Sphinx; Venus Ct #1, and Rose of the Seven Seals; Hedric-Edney College #1, Past Select Excellent Rose. Joyce was a Supreme Officer with the Ladies of Knights Supreme Council, Supreme 1st Assistant Worthy Chief Counselor.

Joyce loved her sister and brothers and enjoyed her times with all; creating many memories; she enjoyed going to all the conferences in numerous states.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, brother; Frit Hux, and sister; Lucy Mae (Hux) Breeden and her beloved grandson James E. "TuTu" Claggion, IV, great-granddaughter Tehjia Jones.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories her three daughters, Tamara "Tammy" Brown of Newport News, VA, JoEvan "Jo" Watson (Derrick "DX") of Newport News, VA, Shameka "Meme" Brown of Hampton, VA. Grandchildren Jeffrey Barnes, Jr., Shayloe Brown, Shyzear Brown, Januvia Rogers, Jazahra Rogers, Shaliyah Brown, Trinette Jones. Great-grandchildren Jayceon Barnes, Harley Brown, Zoey Brown, Khileigh Brown, Tamariya Jones. Her nieces and nephews, Carmella "Mell" Breeden-Bradshaw, Cheryl "Nene" Custis (Lloyd), Reginald "Reggie" Breeden, Ricky Breeden. A host of cousins, family and friends.

It is the desire of the Brown family that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

The family of Ms. Joyce Ann Brown has entrusted her final care to C. C. Carter Funeral Home.

My deepest condolences to the Brown Family. Surely Ms. Joyce was a wonderful person who took me in when I was down and out without even knowing me. May she rest in Peace with the goodness of the Most High.
