Joyce Nell Brown

Joyce Nell Brown departed this life on November 24, 2025 at the age of 79. Joyce Nell Brown, born October 25, 1946, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, was a deeply loved and respected figure in New Orleans. She dedicated many years of service to City Hall and proudly helped lead one of the city's first Black-owned construction companies. Joyce cherished her family, and some of her most joyful moments were spent playing with her great-grandson, Ace R. Evans. She treasured every second of the time God allowed her to share with us. Joyce is the loving daughter of Jonas Hall and Willie Nell Brown. Beloved Mother of Douglas M. Evans, Jr. and Yuana Evans. Sister of Sharrel D. Nix.

She is also survived by (1) grandchild Antoine R. Evans, (1) great grandchild Ace R. Evans, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
