Joyce Elaine Divine

Joyce Elaine Divine, age 97 of Lansing, passed away peacefully Monday, May 25, 2026. A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, 203 E. First North St., Laingsburg, MI 48848. Pastor Kendra Holcomb-Densmore will officiate. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 AM until the time of service.

Born on June 27, 1928, in Victor Township, Michigan, to Fred E. and Vivian M. (Beach) Davis. Joyce lived a long and meaningful life marked by devotion to her family and a quiet strength that touched everyone who knew her.

She was a proud graduate of Eastern High School, Class of 1947. Joyce carried the values of hard work, loyalty, and perseverance throughout her life, and she met each season of life with grace. She found joy in simple pleasures and meaningful work, and she was happiest when surrounded by family, friends, and the activities she loved. She volunteered at Sparrow Hospital and enjoyed the friendships she formed through the Red Hat Society and the Round Lake Women's Club.

Joyce enjoyed her time spent sewing, camping, bowling, cooking, and golfing. She especially loved sewing, and she passed down her enjoyment of that craft through many created treasures. Her hands were skilled and her imagination was bright. She also devoted many years to serving as a 4H Leader, where she shared her encouragement, patience, and guidance with younger generations. Joyce was an avid MSU and Tiger fan!

Family was at the center of Joyce's life. She is survived by her children, Jane (Mike) Pickett, Jean Ann Divine-Fox, and Marty (Deb McKenzie) Divine; her grandchildren, Jaime (Lance) Milan, Michael (Christine) Pickett, Jr., Heather Fox, Michelle Fox, Kelly (Ben) Van Aken, Sean Divine, and Amara Crosby; seven great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends who will forever treasure her memory. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and her family was blessed by her steady love, her thoughtful nature, and the many ways she showed up for those she cared about.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Richard Divine, in 2004, and her son, Richard, Jr., in 2025. Joyce carried these losses with courage and dignity, and her faithfulness to her family remained constant throughout her life
