Joyce Kathleen "Joy" Doane

Joyce Katheleen Doane, unexpectedly passed away on May 26, 2025, at the age of 63. Born on May 15, 1962 in Omaha, Nebraska. Joy, as she was fondly known, was the cherished child of Joyce R. (Thompson) Doane, and the late William "Bill" Doane. Joy's spirit was as comforting as the quilts she crafted, as vibrant as her diamond art, and as warm as the crocheted projects she lovingly created. She was a steadfast member of Atoka First Methodist Church, where she found solace, strength, and community. Her love for animals was evident in her dedication to dog sitting for her sister. Joy worked as a LPN and home health aid. Her nurturing disposition and compassionate heart brought comfort to her patients and their families, who quickly become friends.
Welcoming Joy to Heaven were her grandparents, her beloved father, sister Carolyn Hawes, brother Jay Doane, nephew Greg Hawes, cherished aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Holding her in memoriam, are her son, Tim Kearns and mother, Joyce Doane, both of Atoka, sister Jean Cole of Calera, OK. Neice Gillian (Matt) Anzivino of Milford, MA. Nephews Cody (Merissa Mayhan) Doane of Lake Charles, LA and Trae (Megan Sedam) Doane of Summerville, SC. Great-nieces and great-nephews - Mossy, Maycie, Myranda, Melody, Waylon, Grayson, Alex, Luke, CJ, and Wyatt. Dear aunts, Kathy Parsons of Aurora, CO, Irene Logue of Atoka, OK, and Eileen Urquhart of Dennis, MA. Uncle Floyd (Louise) Thompson of McAlester, OK. Countless cousins and a host of friends that are like family.
A Devotional and Life Celebration will be held on June 7, 2025 at the Atoka County Veterans Council at 12:30pm at 231 1st Street, Atoka, OK. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations in Joy's honor may be made to the Atoka First Methodist Church, the Atoka County Veterans Council, a spay/neuter program or other organization close to your heart. The family would like to extend heartfelt thank yous to Daniel Ramey and the Atoka First Methodist Church, Kevin Harris and the Atoka County Veterans Council, and Brown's Funeral Services. The family would also like to recognize the Calera Police and Fire Departments and Bryan County EMS for their tireless efforts, support, kindness, and empathy they extended to Jean. Joy's legacy is one of love and service. She will be missed by all who knew her.
