Joyce Davis Gamble, 86, of Folkston, GA passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on February 27, 2025, after a brief illness.
Joyce was born on February 7, 1939, to the late Ezekiel and Ruby Hodges Davis in Nahunta, GA. From a young age Joyce worked along with her siblings on their large family farm in Folkston. After graduating from Charlton County High School, she was employed by Terminal Bag Company in Yulee, FL until retirement.
Joyce met the love of her life, Robert Gamble, and the two were wed. Joyce and Robert went on to have three children: Brenda, Debbie and Bobby.
Joyce was a faithful Christian woman whom loved God. She also loved cooking, taking care of others, talking on the phone with friends, working in the yard and spending time with her grandson, Joey, and her beloved dog, Porter.
Joyce is survived by her Grandson; Joey Popham (Janet), Children; Brenda Popham (Bob), Debbie Zielinski (Len) and Bobby Gamble, Brothers; Stanley Davis (Patti) and Clinton Davis, Sisters; Margie McCullough (Ray), Maxine Morgan (HC) and Stella Wilson, and very special sister-in-law; Pat Capps.
She was preceded in death by her husband; Robert Gamble, Sisters; Kathleen Johns, Dorthy Jones, Sara Nasworthy, Queenie Harvey, Rita Brown, Margie Crews and Eleanor Sikes, Brothers; Dean Hodges, Cecil Hodges and Clyde Hodges; her step-mother: Alma Sykes Hodges Davis and a very special sister-in-law; Jackie Gamble O’Quinn.
The family will hold a visitation Thursday, March 6, 2025, from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Services will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025, at 11:00am, both at Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home in Folkston, GA. Burial will follow at Sardis Cemetery.
