Joyce Smith Hamilton

January 3, 1952- February 22, 2026

Joyce was born in Fort Payne, Alabama to Rev. Robert Smith and Virginia Dare Smith. In her early years, she resided in Cedartown and Summerville, GA before returning to her hometown. She attended Northside Baptist Church where she was an organist. She attended the Fort Payne city school system and graduated from Fort Payne High School in 1970. After graduation, she owned and operated "The Rusty Nail" clothing store in Fort Payne. Later in the 1970's, she moved to Aspen, Colorado and worked various jobs for the next 15 years. When she returned home, she worked for WQRX radio station as the General Manager. She later purchased the station and owned and operated it successfully for many years. During those times, Joyce was very active in community, civic, and social events. Joyce will be remembered as "A loving and caring person, with a unique ability to make everyone feel like a friend."

Brother- Eddie(Nikki) Smith

*She was preceded in death by her Father Rev. Robert E. Smith, Mother Virginia Dare Smith, and infant brother Robert Lee Smith

In keeping with Joyce's wishes, a private Graveside service will be held at Glenwood Cemetery.

Friends and family are invited to a "Celebration of Life Service" on Sunday March 1, 2026 at 2 PM in the meeting room of the Coal and Iron building, located at 500 Gault Ave N, Fort Payne, AL 35967
