Joyce Ilean Hendrickson

Joyce Ilean Hendrickson, age 86, resident of rural Michigan, ND, died on Sunday, December 7, 2025 at the McVille Care Center and was reunited with her husband Ron.

Joyce Ilean (Vesey) Hendrickson was born on September 10, 1939 in McVille, North Dakota. She was raised by her uncle and aunt, Raymond and Gladys Odegaard, on their farm in rural Aneta. During her high school years she stayed in a boarding house in McVille with her sister, Vivian. Following high school, Joyce attended beauty school in Fargo. She worked as a hairdresser in Fargo and renewed her cosmetology license every year until moving into the nursing home. She was known for her own beautifully styled hair. Joyce married Ronald Hendrickson on July 6, 1958. They lived in Newport, Rhode Island and Salem, North Dakota before settling on the family farmstead north of McVille. Joyce spent many years raising her family before returning to work utilizing her creative streak as a floral designer. She enjoyed flowers and worked at both Gronaas Floral in McVille and at Elaine's House of Dreams in Lakota.

Her children and grandchildren were the most important people in her life, second only to Ron. She will be missed by her children Loralee (Walter) Huff of Lee's Summit, MO; Tammy (Loren) Dahlen of Grand Forks, ND; Floramel Hendrickson of Spring Creek NV; Thomas (Becky) Hendrickson of Lakota ND; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren; sister Robbie (Lovejoy) Schmidt, and many other family members and friends.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Ronald, her son Shane Hendrickson of Spring Creek NV, sisters Betty Dahlen, Vivian Dahl and brother Ardell Lovejoy.

The memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at Michigan Lutheran Church, Michigan, ND with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Lunch and fellowship following the service at the Michigan Civic Center.

Burial will be held at the Michigan Cemetery, in the spring.
