Joyce Hill-Chamouris Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by M. W. Hawkes Funeral Home - Amelia on Jan. 25, 2026.
.With God's purpose and plan being completed for Mrs. Joyce Louise Hill-Chamouris, she exchanged time for eternity. On January 8, 2026 God welcomed her home with loving arms. She was born on September 18, 1965 to parents - William and Estelle Hill. Joyce was a humble person with a kind spirit. She was a published poet and freelance writer. She had several poems published in the World Book of Poetry and other publications. She loved to write and she loved to read. She was educated and graduated from Amelia County Public School in 1983. She furthered her education at Kee Business College in which she received a degree in Business Administration in 1984. At an early age, she accepted Christ, was baptized and joined the Mount Olive Baptist Church. She was a Sunday School and Bible Study member. However, she served her church whenever and wherever she could until she moved to Richmond, VA to marry Thomas L. Chamouis in 1993. She worked several jobs – Substitute Teacher, Editor for an African American Newspaper run by Mr. Jack Green, Independent Living Center, DMV, Beaver Tree and Lawn Landscaping Company and was the Office Manager for her husband's business – "My Medicare Planner". She met and was joined in Holy Matrimony to the love of her life, Mr. Thomas L. Chamouris. To this union there was Love, Love and Love. She was preceded in death by her mother – Mrs. Estelle Scott Hill and aunt, Mrs. Alice Scott Moody. She leaves to cherish fond memories to: her husband – Mr. Thomas L. Chamouris; Stepson – Mr. Linton Chamouris; father – Reverend William H. Hill; two sisters – Mrs. LaVerne Mosley (Weston, Jr.) and Ms. Diane Hill; nephew – Mr. Weston Mosley III; two uncles - Mr. Gerald Hill (Janet) and Mr. Larry Hill (Schullian) and a host of other relatives and friends.
