Auburn - Joyce A. Hoffmann, 82, died Saturday, December 6, 2025, at her home in

Auburn after a difficult struggle with dementia and cancer. Joyce moved to Auburn from Bergen County, New Jersey, to be closer to the grandchildren she considered perfect. She worked for many years as a registrar at DeKalb Memorial Hospital and truly enjoyed her work family and the many friends she made there. She loved volunteering at Eckhart Public Library and spending time with teen patrons. Dogs were an important part of Joyce's life, and she loved supporting DeKalb Humane Society and other animal rescue organizations. To quote her favorite license plate frame, she'd rather be stitching. Embroidery was a lifelong passion. She created beautiful, award-winning pieces and made friends around the world who shared her love for the art. Joyce never met a stranger; just ask anyone she ever stood next to in a checkout line. Every book she read was her favorite and every movie she watched was the best she'd ever seen. She loved, in no particular order: her extra-large coffee cup, her family, every single dog she ever met, some cats, Stella D'Oro breakfast treats, "marguerite-as" stranger's babies, John Denver, monarch butterflies, Al Roker, over-decking the halls every Christmas, and sea glass. Joyce was born in Paterson, New Jersey, on May 26, 1943 to Stanley and Ann (Justin) Majka. Her father died in 1965. Her mother died in 2016. Her husband, Frank Norman Hoffmann, died in 2002. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Frank Gregory Hoffmann and Hayley King; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane Hoffmann Proshuto and Todd Proshuto; three grandchildren, Sadie King-Hoffmann (Taylor

Skidmore), Otto King-Hoffmann (Danielle Replogle), and Oskar King-Hoffmann; one step-grandchild, Carlin Boeman (Ethan Boeman) and their daughter Atlas; two sisters, Barbara Bartos (Myles Paul Bartos) and Arlene Kasper; and one brother, Kevin Majka (Laura Majka). Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn, with visitation from 10 – 11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Auburn. Visitation also will be from 3 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to DeKalb Humane Society or Eckhart Public Library.
