Joyce Holmstrom

Joyce Holmstrom of Bemidji, MN died Wednesday, December 17th, 2025 at her home in Bemidji, MN.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00AM, Monday, December 29th, 2025 at the United Methodist Church in Bemidji, Minnesota. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are with the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji.
She was born on November 18, 1942, in Crookston, MN, the daughter of William and Gladys (Storch) Carlson. She completed her Elementary Education in Beltrami, Minnesota, and graduated from Fertile Beltrami High School. She attended Moorhead State College, where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with honors. She taught Elementary Education for three years in Crookston public schools. After moving to Bemidji, she continued her teaching career in special education at Lincoln Elementary School and received her Master's degree from Bemidji State University in Special Education.
Throughout her lifetime, she enjoyed travel, gardening, cooking, crossword puzzles, sudoku, and reading historical fiction. Upon retirement, she spent winters in Redington Shores, Florida, and last year in Surprise, Arizona. She especially enjoyed visiting many national parks and state capitols, and cruising throughout the United States and Canada.
While in Bemidji, she enjoyed her Raphael's coffee group, which included many of her former co-workers. Additionally, she also enjoyed her bone builder's group, and being a part of the Senior Citizens group. She was a member of the Methodist Women's group in Bemidji and an active member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She truly loved her daily phone conversations with her daughter, loved being a nana to Matt, and loved being a wife to John.
She is survived by her: Husband, John,

Grandson, Matthew (Erica)
And Sister, Carol (Al)
She was preceded in death by her parents William and Gladys Carlson.
