Joyce Beverly Junge passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025, at Lilac Homes Memory Care in Dilworth, MN.
Joyce was born on March 26, 1931, in Moorhead, MN, to Clarence and Lillian Jones. She grew up in Moorhead with her younger sister, Maris. Joyce graduated from Moorhead High School and went on to earn her teaching degree from Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSUM). She taught for many years and eventually served as the Cass County Superintendent of Schools, retiring in 1989.
On August 15, 1952, Joyce married the love of her life, Eugene Holm. They made their home in Fargo and were blessed with three children: David, LuAnn, and Jennifer. She treasured her children deeply. After Eugene passed away in 1972, Joyce devoted the next 18 years to raising their children and supporting them in all their activities.
On October 12, 1990, Joyce married Keith Junge, the second love of her life. Upon retiring, Joyce and Keith moved to their lake home on Big Floyd Lake in Detroit Lakes, MN, where they enjoyed their time together. Joyce spent much of her time at the lake surrounded by family—and she loved the chaos (most of the time). You could often find her sitting on the deck or in the porch, “supervising.” Joyce loved golfing, playing bridge, and was a passionate fan of NDSU Bison football. She also loyally cheered for the Minnesota Twins—despite them often letting her down.
Throughout her 94 years, Joyce held many titles: daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was fortunate to spend 40 of those years as a grandmother and later as a great-grandmother—roles she adored. Joyce loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly, and she never missed an opportunity to brag about them to anyone who would listen. Her love was endless, and her worry was plentiful. She will be remembered for her unconditional and abundant love, her unwavering support, and her goodbye kisses for everyone.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Lillian; husbands, Eugene Holm and Keith Junge; sister, Maris Jones Vendsel; step-daughter, Kathy Junge; son-in-law, Keith McDougall; and grandson, Kyle Berg.
She is survived by her children, David (Sue) Holm, LuAnn McDougall, and Jennifer (Mike) Berg; stepchildren, Mary Junge (Mark Matasovsky) and Michael Junge (Ember Reichgott Junge); eight grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
A memorial service to celebrate Joyce’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at Hope Lutheran Church, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
