Joyce Khan, age 35, was unexpectedly called to be home with the Lord this past Tuesday. The only daughter of Saleem and Josephine Sultan, and the loving wife of Sharoon Khan, she passed away during surgery.

She is survived by them as well as by her brothers Shaleem (married to Kanwal) and Ashbel (engaged to Mishma). Joyce grew up in Sahiwal, Pakistan; received her higher education in Lahore; and moved in December 2019 to the U.S., where she began working at Northwestern Hospital in Grayslake, Illinois. Having practiced medicine in northern Pakistan for two years, she was pursuing an additional master's in nursing here. She was deeply involved in Redeemer Life Church in Vernon Hills and also served in the community. She had a deep love for Jesus Christ, which she shared with everyone she met through her smile, her words, and her actions.

She married Sharoon Khan in March 2022 and lived happily in Waukegan. On November 18th, 2025, while having her lymph nodes removed, she suffered excessive blood loss and was tragically unable to pull through.

She loved serving others, shopping, eating out, laughing, and playing games, and even enjoyed horror movies. Though our hearts are broken and our grief is immeasurable, we know that she is rejoicing with her Heavenly Father and her Lord Jesus. Our hope, comfort, and peace come from that.

She touched many hearts and will be very deeply missed.

Her visitation will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 10:30 am at Libertyville Covenant Church, 250 N St Marys Rd, Libertyville, Illinois 60048. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 am at the church as well. Interment will follow to Avon Cemetery, in Grayslake, Illinois. Arrangements are entrusted to The Memorial Chapel of Waukegan. Joyce had a warmth that radiated whenever she entered a room. I will forever treasure the sound of her voice calling out "Hi, Doctor!" whenever I walked into the office. That simple greeting never failed to lift my spirits.

She had an extraordinary gift for making everyone around her feel truly seen and deeply cared for. Whether it was patients or colleagues at NM Grayslake, Joyce had a way of giving each person her full attention and heart.

One of my favorite things about Joyce was discovering her unexpected love for horror movies and haunted houses. She made me smile and laugh.

Joyce found joy in the simplest pleasures: an egg sandwich from Egg Tuck, a can of Coca-Cola from the physician lounge. Just two weeks before she passed, she shared advice with me that I will carry forever, including that a new haircut can make a bad day better and to just buy the sirloin steak!

Sharoon, my heart goes out to you. Joyce, you were a light in this world. You will be deeply, deeply missed.

Joyce was an amazing person. I have never met such an amazing and positive person. Joyce always had a beautiful smile on her face. I will remember the laughs we had. You can't spell joyce without joy, and that is the word I would describe her she was a joy to be around. Blessed to have met you forever missed. My condolences to her husband and family.

May she rest in peace. I had the true pleasure of working alongside Joyce, navigating the complex world of scheduling for one of our mutual doctors. She was always so incredibly helpful and pleasant to work with.

My deepest condolences on the passing of Joyce. Over the past years of working together, I had the privilege of growing closer to her, and I came to see just how truly special she was. Joyce was the kind of person who carried kindness with her everywhere she went-caring, thoughtful, and always ready to lift others up. She had a way of making even the toughest days feel a little lighter.

Her warmth, her generosity, and her genuine spirit left a mark on everyone who had the chance to know her. I´m grateful for the moments and laughs we shared and the conversations that showed me what an amazing person she truly was. She will be deeply missed, but the impact she had will never be forgotten.

My thoughts and prayers are with her family, her friends, and everyone whose life she touched. May she rest in peace. Joyce you will be truly missed!

Sharoon, I can´t imagine anything more difficult than losing a loved one. Joyce was a beautiful and gentle soul, and I am grateful that she shared a part of her life with me as a friend and as my "little sister".
Always with a smiling face, she brought a special kind of joy and laughter to our daily lives at work which no one will be able to replace. She holds a special place in our hearts and will truly be missed.
Please know you and the family are in my thoughts and prayers. I wish you peace and comfort during this difficult time.
Sincerest condolences,
Archana

Joyce, your joy was a gift from God, and you shared it so freely with everyone at NM Glenview. Your faith was quiet but powerful, and it lifted so many hearts - including mine. I'm praying for your family, that God holds them close and comforts them with His love. Rest in His heavenly kingdom, Joyce. We will miss you deeply.

We met as coworkers and, together, navigated the challenges of imaging. Over time, those shared moments grew into a true friendship. You carried an incredible appetite for life, embracing every experience with joy and curiosity. Through your perspective, I learned so much about the differences that shape us. Your love for your family and the Lord was unmatched, and your work ethic was nothing short of inspiring. I will miss you deeply, my friend.

Sharoon and Joyce´s family, my deepest condolences for your loss. I believe she is now in heaven, rejoicing in the presence of the Lord. May her memory bring strength during this difficult time, and may you find comfort in knowing her spirit lives on in the love she shared.

Love Carmel S.

Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal. Even though your heart may be broken, do know that she is in the Lord's hands, and you will see her again one day. Joyce always has a smile whenever I see her, and I know she is still yet smiling. My condolences to you all in this celebration of life.
