Joyce Koulouras, age 71 of Livonia passed away on April 5, 2025. She was born on April 10, 1953 in Detroit, Michigan to her parents, the late Katherine (née Sampali) and James Hinaris.
She is the beloved and devoted wife of 51 years to Dean Koulouras and loving and cherished mother of Katie Koulouras. She is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her sister, Mary (Bill) George, her sister-in-law Tina (Nick) Madias and her many nieces and nephews.
When it was time to relax, Joyce loved trips to the ballpark and playing golf. She enjoyed the challenge of the game, the opportunity to play a round with her friends and just being outdoors on a perfect day. When it was time to have fun, she and her family packed their bags and headed to Naples, Florida and Las Vegas!! To say she loved Las Vegas was an understatement. She loved the gambling, the incredible music performed by world-famous artists, the shopping opportunities, and the fine dining accompanied by the exciting and fun nightlife.
Joyce was devoted to her family. Their needs and well-being were her top priority. She was never too shy to express her love and affection to each and every one of them. She was a source of support and comfort and great effort was put forth into spending time together – especially over the years through countless shared meals.
There was no greater joy for Joyce than to prepare a feast for her family and friends – especially for major holiday gatherings like Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving or whatever else could be celebrated. She was known to single-handedly prepare for as many as 30 or more guests at a time. Joyce was the family chef who showed her love through cooking and tradition. She truly was gifted and known not only for her spinach pies, but also by the way she always made you feel welcome in her kitchen. Her love for cooking was evident in every dish she prepared. Her delicious meals brought joy and warmth to countless family gatherings over the years.
On behalf of the Koulouras family, a special thank you and gratitude beyond measure to all of the staff at Lauren’s Greenhouse Living for the kindness and loving care so freely given to our mother.
