Joyce Lang

On October 3rd, 2025 Joyce M. Lang (Mays), 84, of Canaan, NH passed away from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Joyce was born in Vineland, New Jersey to Mary (Pemberton) and Richard Mays on January 3, 1941. She had an older brother, Richard. She attended Sacred Heart elementary school and graduated from Vineland High School. She worked in retail out of high school and married her first husband Anthony Perez in 1960. She had four children with Tony. She worked as an aide in nursing homes and delighted in caring for the residents, especially the older folks. Her plans included becoming a nurse until back and neck surgery made that impossible. She later worked for Tech Glass in Vineland New Jersey and got her hairdressing license.

Joyce married Harry Lang in 1980 and in 1990 they moved into a log home in New Hampshire – a dream they shared. Their favorite travel destinations included Las Vegas and Alaska. Joyce and Harry were married for 42 years when Harry passed. Throughout the years Joyce had many interests including reading tarot cards, creating numerology charts, crocheting, studying Native American culture, and exploring the natural places of New England. Joyce spent much of her time outdoors in nature and taught herself about herbal medicine. She enjoyed all the wildlife that visited her home, especially the birds. She was a keen birdwatcher. She honored Mother Earth in all she did. She was always available to listen and frequently reached out to friends and family to check in on how they were getting along. As a mom, she always sensed when something wasn’t quite right with her children and would ask but never pressed. It was comforting to know she was so close. She is greatly missed.

Joyce was predeceased by her husband Harry and a son, Nicholas. She is survived by her children Vicky Adams and husband Bob of Wells River, Vt, Tony Perez of Palmer, Ak, Chris Perez and and wife Tonjia of Canaan, NH; grandchildren Rick Perez, Nick Perez, Brielle Perez and Noah Liss; and 3 great grandchildren.
