Heidrick Funeral Home - PlattsburghJoyce LaPine, 85, of Plattsburgh passed away on August 12, 2025. She was born on July 24, 1940 in Elizabethtown, NY to Gordon Sherman, Sr. and Elsie Lawrence.
She was a woman whose kindness touched many hearts. Joyce dedicated two decades to managing Nick's Restaurant, becoming a beloved figure in the community through her work and welcoming spirit. Her commitment to her customers made Nick's a cherished gathering place for friends, family, and neighbors.
Following her well-earned retirement, she continued serving the community at Mr. Breakfast and Donut. She will be remembered for her gentle humor and the comfort she provided with every cup of coffee and conversation.
Joyce leaves behind a loving family that was the center of her world. She is survived by her children, Steven (Denise) LaPine and Deborah Borks; grandchildren Heather (Chris) Jock, Shannon LaPine, Gary Borks, and Casey Dinman; several great-grandchildren; her brothers Roger Sherman (Judy) and Harry (Drucilla) Sherman; as well as her brother-in-law Ernie (Alta) LaPine.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell LaPine; her parents; her brothers, Gordon Sherman, Jr., and Lawrence Sherman; and her son-in-law, Jim Borks.
A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Cemetery in Plattsburgh.
