Funeral services celebrating the life of Joyce Lobitz, age 62, of rural Hamburg were held at 11:00 AM Saturday November 29, 2008 at the St. Paul’s Ev. Reformed Church of Hamburg. Officiating was the Rev. Daniel Schnabel. The organist was Sandy Kroells. The congregational hymns were ______________________. Serving as casket bearers were Laura and Jim Speiss, Thomas Lobitz, Jason and Tara Lobitz, Larry Lindemann. Interment was in the church cemetery. Visitation and prayer service was held Friday evening at the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel in Norwood Young America.

Joyce Elsie (Lindemann) Lobitz was born on February 3, 1946 in Glencoe the daughter of Harold and Mildred (Grenke) Lindemann. She was baptized on February 24, 1946 at First Ev. Lutheran Church by Rev. H.C. Bode. Joyce was later confirmed in the faith on May 17, 1959 also at First Ev. Lutheran Church in Glencoe by Rev. H.C. Bode. Joyce graduated from Steven’s Seminary in Glencoe. On July 13, 1968 Joyce was united in marriage with Fred. W. Lobitz at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton by Rev. R.W. Koepp. This union was blessed with children Laura, Thomas and Jason. The family has lived on a farm southeast of Hamburg. Joyce was a very devoted farmwife and had also worked for Tino’s in Norwood Young America and Emma Krumbees in Belle Plaine. Joyce was a member of the St. Paul’s Ev. Reformed Church and a past member of its women’s guild and choir. Joyce enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening and cooking. She especially cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren.

On Sunday November 23, 2008 Joyce entered her eternal rest at her home at the age of 62 years, 9 months and 20 days. She is preceded in death by her father Harold Lindemann, sister Mavis Lindemann, and father-in-law Fred F. Lobitz.

Joyce is survived by her husband Fred Lobitz of Hamburg; children Laura Speiss (husband: Jim) of St. Peter, Thomas Lobitz of Norwood Young America, Jason Lobitz (wife: Tara) of North Mankato; grandchildren Meagan Speiss, McKayla Lobitz, Adrianna Lobitz, Melina Lobitz, Adam Lobitz; mother Mildred Lindemann of Glencoe; sisters and brother Marilyn Rettig (husband: Clinton) of Brownton, Joan Brockhoff (husband: Randy) of Green Isle, Larry Lindemann (wife: Edna) of Glencoe, Norma Schauer (husband: Wayne) of Arlington; mother-in-law Evelyn Lobitz of Waconia; sisters-in-law Margaret Johnson (husband: Curt) of Speerfish, SD, Sharon Wussow of Hopkins; as well as many other relatives and friends.
