Joyce Lucia-Kolb Obituary
Joyce was born on November 28th, 1951 in Plattsburgh, NY to Richard H. and Grace M. (Burt) Lucia, the youngest of three children. She spent her childhood on the family farm in Peru, NY where she developed a love for nature. She could sit outside for hours enjoying the sights and sounds. In her youth Joyce enjoyed embroidery, knitting, crocheting and cake decorating.
She is survived by her five children: Joyce (Jesús) Fernandez, Suzanne Kolb, Richard (Elizabeth) Kolb II, Stephanie Otley, and Rebecca Broderick. In addition, she leaves behind sister-in-law, the former Mary L. Hess, and brother-in-law Thomas Sears, twelve grandchildren, countless nieces and nephews, and many other friends and relatives, all of whom will miss having a mother, an aunt, and a friend.
In addition to her parents, Joyce was predeceased by her siblings: Caroline Sears and Carlton Lucia.
The family would like to thank Carlene Heipel, Tammy Brunk, and Thomas Sears, her nieces and brother-in-law, who stood by her side in her last months, the parishioners who brought her Holy Communion, and her neighbors who checked in on her.
Donations in memory of Joyce Lucia-Kolb may be made to Birthright of Plattsburgh, where she dedicated a large portion of her life helping needy mothers and their unborn babies.
Funeral services will be forthcoming.
Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru, 518-643-9055.
