JOYCE MATHEWS

JOYCE MATHEWS 08/17/1946 - 12/16/2025 Joyce Elaine Mathews of Shelbina passed away December 16, 2025, at Shelbina Baptist Home at the age of 79. Joyce has been laid to rest at Clarence City Cemetery. Joyce loved rock and roll, including The Young Rascals, The Eagles, Credence Clearwater Revival, and Elvis Presley. Some of her family's best memories of Joyce were listening to this music with her. Joyce also sometimes wrote poetry and had a knack for drawing. Though not generally an animal lover, she found much love with her cat Cassie. Joyce believed in the Lord. Her faith helped guide the faith of her family, and it comforted her throughout her life and especially as she approached the end of her life. Joyce was born August 17, 1946, in Pattonsburg, Mo., to Frances and Doral Wynne and was the oldest of nine children. Joyce is preceded in death by her parents and her first husband Marvin Dale Hartley, Jr. She is survived by her daughter Annette Hartley of Springfield and her two sons, Alex Hartley of Shelbina, and Larry Holland of Topeka, Kan.; four grandsons - Warren Hartley, Joshua Guilford, Caleb Guilford, and Brandon Hartley; two great-grandsons, and two great-granddaughters.
