Joyce Ann McKee, age 89, of Fairmont, Minnesota, formerly of Lyle, Minnesota, passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at Lakeview Nursing Home in Fairmont. Joyce was born December 26, 1936, to Hollis and Esther (Rud) Flatten in Spring Grove, Minnesota. She graduated from Austin High School. For many years, she worked as an office manager at Husco Foods and at Tanya’s Restaurant, known as “Tucker’s Place” where she loved to bake pies and socialize with the patrons. Joyce was an active member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Lyle, Minnesota, where she participated in WELCA, and was a former member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin. She served on the resident council at Gold Finch Assisted Living and later, on the culinary committee at Lakeview Nursing Home. An avid game player, Joyce enjoyed playing 500, bridge, and Mexican Train. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, embroidering, and counter cross-stitch. Known for her festive spirit, Joyce loved entertaining her family during the holidays, beginning her Christmas baking as early as November and immaculately decorating her home for every occasion. Family vacations at Leech Lake were among her fondest memories. Above all, Joyce cherished her family, especially her grandchildren, who were the center of her world.
Survivors include her daughters, Tami Jensen and Tanya Cook; grandchildren, Jamison (Melissa) Wessels, Tyler Wessels, and Brianna (Dan) Reichert; great-grandchildren, Kourtnee (Drake) Brehmer, James (Tasha) Holgate, Quinn Reichert, and Hunter Reichert; great-great-grandchildren, Natilee Brehmer and Lainee Brehmer; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and bonus family, Lisa (Steve) Kocer, Stephanie (Al) Bagwell, and Braden (Samantha) Kocer. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Don Sundberg; and sister, Patricia (Warren) Radford.
A huge heartfelt thank you to the staff at Lakeview Nursing Home for making us feel like family.
A funeral service for Joyce will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, February 2, 2026, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Lyle, Minnesota. The visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery, Austin, Minnesota. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes of Austin are assisting the family with arrangements.
