In loving memory of Joyce Joan Meyers

Joyce Joan Meyers peacefully passed away in the comfort of her Brighton, Colorado home on March 20, 2025, at the age of 87. Despite a frightening diagnosis of pancreatic cancer in the fall of 2024, Joyce displayed a supernatural peace, knowing that her life and death were in God’s loving hands.

Joyce was born on November 24, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan, to Carl and Edna Welton. After graduating from Redford High School, she started her career at Detroit Edison. It was there that a Department Leader who was also Ron’s uncle, arranged a blind date that introduced her to Ron — the love of her life. They married June 24, 1960.

As devoted Christians, they were actively involved at Dunning Park Bible Chapel in Detroit, MI, where they made their church home. In 1977, Ron’s job led the family to Arlington, Texas. Joyce developed a deep love for God’s Word, a passion that grew stronger over the years. She joined Bible Study Fellowship, where her faith continued to grow. Those who knew her often recall her heartfelt words of encouragement, always pointing to her unwavering belief in a loving and good God.

Ron and Joyce graciously opened their home to church home groups, fostering long-lasting relationships while studying God’s Word. There were several Thanksgiving meals where the kids would secretly laugh at the variety of guests that would show up at the Thanksgiving table. Joyce was known for her kindness and warmth, often saying there’s a difference between entertaining guests and being truly hospitable —she was hospitable.

Joyce and Ron retired in Hot Springs Village, AR, Grand Lake, CO, and later in Thornton and Brighton, CO, where they remained active at North Metro Church. Joyce served faithfully, contributing to funeral dinners, children’s ministry, and Bible study leadership — always serving where she felt the Lord was leading her.

Joyce became Ron’s main caregiver after he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. She kept her sense of humor and often said it got her through some hard times. Her home was filled with books and she enjoyed doing her crossword puzzle during commercial breaks.

Joyce leaves behind a cherished legacy and is survived by her four children: Scott (Debra), Lisa, Lori (Eric), and Craig (Cynthia). Her children have described her as a loving, encouraging, funny, faithful mother. Her memory also lives on through her grandchildren — Matthew and David Meyers; Ryan (Kirsten) Farstad and Carl Farstad; Nathaniel and Emily Meyers — and her great-granddaughter, Addison Farstad. Addy will miss Gigi’s donut holes.

She will be deeply missed by her only surviving brother, Ralph Welton and her sweet sister-in-law Eunice McLellan.

Family meant everything to Joyce. She now rests in the presence of her Lord and Savior, joyfully reunited with her husband Ron and those she loved who knew Christ, who went before her.

A Celebration of Life service in honor of Joyce will take place on Friday, March 28th at 10am at Horan and McConaty Funeral Home, 9998 Grant St, Thornton, CO 80229. In leu of flowers please consider making a donation to Camp Elim in Joyce’s name.
