Joyce Murray Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ridgelawn Funeral Home on Jan. 15, 2026.
Joyce Murray, 85, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2026, in Dyer, Indiana. Born on April 1, 1940, in East Chicago, Indiana. Joyce lived a life marked by devotion to her family and a joyful spirit that touched everyone she met. Joyce retired from the Highland Police Department, where she worked as a custodian for many years. Her dedication and work ethic were evident in all she did, and her presence left a lasting impression on those around her.

A longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Griffith, Indiana. Joyce found strength and community through her faith. Her spiritual life was an important part of who she was and guided her through both joyful and challenging times. She had a special fondness for ducks- a passion that became one of her most endearing trademarks among family and friends. Her joyful nature made every gathering brighter; she had an innate ability to make people smile and brought laughter wherever she went. Joyce Murray was a deeply cherished woman whose legacy is defined by warmth, kindness, and an infectious joy that uplifted those around her. To those who knew her best, Joyce will be remembered not only for the love she gave so freely, but also for the simple joys that made her unique. Her memory will continue to bring comfort and inspiration to all who were fortunate enough to share in her life.

Joyce's family was the heart of her world. Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald; her first husband and love of her life, Patrick; her three sons, Dennis, Danny, and Patrick whose memories remained close to her heart throughout her life. She is survived by her children; Caroline (Tom), along with their children, Eric (Sara) and Nicole (Diego); Eleanor (Kevin); and their children, Shannon (Chris) and Bonnie; her son, Shawn (Teresa); and her son, Timothy; and a host of great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her later years.

May Joyce's legacy of love live on in the hearts of those she touched.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. from Ridgelawn Cemetery 4201 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana 46408.
