Joyce Ann Nelson

Joyce Ann Nelson, age 77 of Hayes, died on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at Riverside Doctors Hospital in Williamsburg. On July 20, 1948, she was born to the late Thomas Odell Brown, Sr., and Annie Elizabeth West Brown. Joyce was a dedicated mother, a loving wife, and a master of her kitchen, filling our home with warmth and wonderful meals for the family. In addition to her parents, daughter, Tracy Murphy, sisters Virginia Brown and Mary Lee Horsley, and brothers Paul Brown, Lank Brown, and Billy Brown preceded her in death. Survived by her husband, Gerald "Jerry"; daughter, Connie Greene; sister, Ellie Mae Holloway; and brother, Thomas Odell Brown, Jr. Grandchildren Miranda Murphy, Danielle Woodard, special sister-in-law Kay Brown, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service, officiated by Reverend Richard Croxton, will be held at Rosewell Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at 1:00 pm. Friends will gather at the cemetery-services under the direction of Hogg Funeral Home.
