Conway, SC
Mrs. Joyce Elaine Pelzer, 85, widow of the late Richard Otto Pelzer, passed away Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Conway Medical Center.
Born June 10, 1940 in Grand Valley, PA, Joyce was the daughter of the late Wilhelm Helmut-Kusaj and the late Helen Gladys Hebets Kusaj. She worked in a Civil Service Administrative capacity at Andrews Air Force Base. Joyce was always very dedicated to her family and enjoyed time spent with them. She was an expert seamstress and also gifted at crocheting and various crafting arts. She had a keen interest in "people watching", sitting in public places observing the antics of the general public. Joyce kept her mind sharp by working puzzle books and reading books of all kinds and also enjoyed crabbing, camping, as well as canning and baking. Upon moving to Conway, she and Richard became members of Union United Methodist Church and previously worshipped at Calvary United Methodist Church in Waldorf, MD.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Joyce was predeceased by her daughters, Helen Lane, and Bonnie Pelzer; her grandchildren, Randy Lane, Bruce Lane, Richy Pelzer, Timmy Breen, and Chip DePhillip; her brother, Bruce Kasaj; and her son-in-law, Richard DePhillip.
Survivors include her children, Carolyn DePhillip, Richard Pelzer and wife Novella; and Page Pelzer; her grandchildren, Mike Breen, BJ McClay, Candice Lane, Amanda Lane, Jessica Petras, Brad Lane, Amber Nixon, Ashley Dingus, Travis Pugliese, Vani Peterson, and Brooke Pelzer; forty (40) great-grandchildren; three (3) great great grandchildren; her brothers, Ken Kusaj and wife Louise, Bill Kusaj and wife Jan, and Larry Kusaj; and many other extended family and friends.
Funeral services, officiated by Rev. Aaron Fitch, will be held at 1:00PM Saturday, August 30, 2025 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel. Burial will follow at Union United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service.
