Joyce M. Pofahl
March 23, 1937 - May 27, 2025
Joyce M. Pofahl, 88, of Salem, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Froedtert South Pleasant Prairie.
Born in Milwaukee, Wis., on March 23, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Grace (Romie) Mueller. As a child, she moved to Kenosha, attended local schools and graduated from Mary D. Bradford. She enjoyed the yearly class reunions with her classmates. On November 7, 1959, she was united in marriage with Richard "Dick" Pofahl at First Presbyterian Church in Kenosha for a wonderful 56 years before his passing on August 27, 2016.
In her earlier years, she loved fine art painting, ceramics, interior design, horses and has never gone through life without a dog. She loved family heirlooms and genealogy. She was a collector of her passions. After marrying Richard, they met a lovely group of friends who traveled locally and abroad, and were always joking around with silly antics.
In the mid-1990s they bought a 1950 Bentley Mark IV, which brought on much more travel, joy and friendships, also winning numerous awards. In her 50s, she was talked into tap dancing by her good friend, Jackie Phillips. Along with Linda Groves, the three of them had the greatest thrill of a lifetime performing for the Queen's Jubilee in England.
Joyce will be remembered for her sassiness, awkward singing outbursts, bluntness, and most of all, the love she poured into people all around her.
Survivors include her two children, David (Christine) Pofahl of Kenosha and Diana "Dee" (Gary) Wier of Brighton; four grandchildren, Evan (Sarah) Pofahl, Eric Pofahl, Paige (Jesse) Styscko and Erik (Destiny Kent-Vernezze) Wier; and five great-grandchildren, Allie and Easton Pofahl, and Parker, Clayton and Mackenzie Styscko.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Proko Funeral Home from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Liberty Corners Cemetery in Salem. In lieu of flowers, donations to the
Cystic Fibrosis Foundation would be appreciated. #TeamClay
