Joyce Poynter, 73, a resident of Dover, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 28, 2011, at her home. She was born November 20, 1937, at Dover to Lee Roy and Mary Dell Wait Karnes. She worked for Quality Foods as a courtesy booth manager for more than 20 years. After her retirement, she and a sister opened Granny’s Dolls in Moreland and later in Dover and she was a member of the Gravel Hill Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her mother; her husband, Hays Poynter; three brothers, Billy James, Jackie and C. L. Karnes. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Terrie and Vaughn Park of Cabot; her father, Lee Roy Karnes of Russellville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Rex Ann and Bill Roderick of Dover and Royallene and Cletis Storment of Benton; a brother and sister-in-law, Ricky and Vicky Karnes; two grandchildren, Randee Lee of Tulsa, Oklahoma and C. J. Lee and his wife, Brandi of Dover; a great-grandchild, Cooper Jace Lee of Dover; a sister-in-law, Frances Smith of Dover; and her dearest, beloved friend, companion and caretaker, Ken Hoffstetter of Dover. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2011, at Gravel Hill Church of Christ with Mr. Bill Roderick and Mr. Scott Roderick officiating. Burial will be in North New Hope Cemetery at Dover under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service. Active pallbearers will be C. J. Lee, Thad Hinkle, Rick Brown, Tom Smith, Curtis Storment and Charley Karnes. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Gravel Hill Church of Christ, the staff of the Arkansas Hospice, Ronald Robinson, Leon Cobb and Heath Davis. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Arkansas Hospice, 2405 East Parkway, Suite 3, Russellville, Arkansas 72802 or the Gravel Hill Church of Christ, c/o Randy Hollis, 236 Hollis Lane, Russellville, Arkansas 72802.
