Joyce Margaret Schiel, 91, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at SSM Health St. Clare Hospital in Fenton, Missouri. She was born on November 22, 1933, in Oak Park, Illinois, the daughter of Leland and Margaret (Heiserman) Joslyn. Joyce's family later moved to Manchester, where she graduated from Manchester High School.
On September 23, 1962, Joyce was united in marriage to Walter E. Schiel, Jr. in the Rev. Walter and Barbara Schiel Rose Garden in Manchester.
Joyce worked as a dental assistant for ten years and was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, Pythian Sisters, BPW International, Mother's Study Club, Presbyterian Bible study group, and the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed playing cards, reading, cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes, and spending time with her Hardee's Bunch friends. Above all Joyce, treasured the moments she shared with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her two daughters, Susan (Doug) Hart of Lakeville, Minnesota, and Sallie (Tim) Vanderhoof of Eureka, Missouri; her daughter-in-law, Janine Ehrler of Manchester; six grandchildren, Gabriel (April) Ehrler, Sam Ehrler, Bryan (Kelly) Hart, Mason Hart, Elise Vanderhoof, and Amara Vanderhoof; sister-in-law, Lila Joslyn; and several nieces and nephews.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter in 2003; her son, Doug Ehler; and two brothers, Richard (Kay) Joslyn and David Joslyn.
