Joyce Marie Stacey, 92, of White Bluff, Tennessee, passed away on December 30, 2023. She was born on February 26, 1931, in White Bluff, to the late Orville and Irene England. Joyce was a devoted Christian, known for her kind and loving nature. She was a soft-spoken and funny woman who had a passion for cooking for others. Joyce was also a foster parent, providing love and care to many children. Joyce loved to care for and love on people.
Joyce and her husband, Fred, were long time members of the Acorn Hill church of Christ. Even with the loss of two daughters their faith never wavered, and they were great Christian examples to anyone that knew them. Joyce had a beautiful voice and loved to attend gospel singings and meetings.
Joyce began driving a school bus in 1969 and her dedication and commitment earned her a place in the School Bus Driver Hall of Fame in 2016. Joyce transported countless children to and from school, field trips, and sporting events, ensuring their safety and well-being. She once said she didn't think anyone loved their job as much as she did.
Joyce enjoyed watching her kids and grandkids play sports and cheering for the Atlanta Braves. She also enjoyed estate sales, auctions, yard sales, and collecting depression glass.
Cooking was her way to show love to those she cared for and you never left disappointed. Her delicious meals brought joy and comfort to the lives of many.
Joyce will be deeply missed by her daughter, Lisa (Tom) Dampf, and her grandchildren, Amanda (Jeff) Cole, Jessica (Thad) Sanders, Alex (Sara) Dampf, and Stacey (Tristan) Armstead; great-grandchildren, Christopher, Adrianna, Jasmine, Antonio, Demontay, Dontae, Javien, Travis, Jayce, Mosiah, Josie, Callie, Kam, Remi and Noa; and great-great-grandchildren, Isaia and Elijah.
In August 2023, Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 73 years, Fred Stacey. She was also preceded in death by her daughters, Denise Stacey and Cathy Yarbrough, her granddaughter, Melissa Yarbrough, her great-great-grandchildren, Demontay Dixon Jr. and Khyris Dixon, as well as several siblings and her parents, Orville and Irene England.
The funeral service for Joyce Stacey will be Thursday, January 4, 2024, at 2:00 P.M., at the White Bluff Chapel of Dickson Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, January 3, 2024, beginning at 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.; and will resume on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service. Interment will follow in Taylor Town Cemetery in White Bluff, TN.
Joyce's kind and loving spirit will be remembered by all who knew her. Her legacy as a devoted Christian, foster parent, and exceptional school bus driver will continue to inspire others. May she rest in peace.
